Crap.

Thanks to a confluence of events, I didn't catch the elimination show last night, nor did my Tivo grab it. This makes me really sad, because I can't imagine a better show for the rest of the year. Both Antonella and Sundance getting the boot? I can only imagine the tears.

I can't imagine what the stupid voters were thinking. FaFuTwo is gone. The princess bitch is gone. How the fuck are you supposed to operate an interesting contest without them? You don't vote off the villain so early!

People will argue that they sucked and deserved to go so that better singers had a chance. Fucking -- WHY? We all know that Lakisha, Melinda, Blake, and Sligh will be in the top six, with a couple other sub-par stragglers. Why do we have to drag other, slighty better but still not star-worthy mediocre morons along when they won't give us half the entertainment value? And now, getting to the point of the top 6 -- or even 2 -- will be monotonous. Monotonous in the boringness of the badness.

We needed to keep around the truly sucktacular for entertainment, people. I'll never understand people who don't grasp the fundamentals of what entertains them. You can't have Batman without The Joker, you can't have any pudding if you don't eat your meat, and you can't have American Idol without American Assholes!

Also? I'm way bitter because I missed my last chance to see Antonella's hot dad. Was he there? Someone tell me if he was there.

Oh, I'm sure I'll still watch and comment, but I'll be away enjoying the glory that is March Madness for the next couple weeks. So if I miss anything spectacular, won't you let me know? Thanks.

Oh but we still have Sanjaya - or as my husband and I call him "Mogli". All he needs is a loose-fitting diaper and some fun-loving monkeys and we can have a live performance of The Jungle Book. It's bound to be better than the shit we're going to be watching for the next two months. I no longer give a shit that it's like repeatedly kicking someone with a tracheotomy tube in the neck. The kid is smarmy with a capital S. AND he thinks he's good. Wrong on both accounts, Mogli. Time to go back to the jungle.

Other than the elimination not being exactly what we expected, the show was kinda sucky, so you didn't miss much. Hot dad wasn't there, but it looked as if hot granddad (Henry Hill Sr) was. Let's all enjoy March Madness. Hope my brackets fare better than last year!

This group is so BLAND. Mowgli Fawcett-Majors does liven things up a bit, at least, in that he's so putrifyingly bad. And I do like Melinda and Lakisha. And Sligh. But I only like them. There's no one that I'm pouring a love-fest on this season.

Susan, I'm a fellow author and AI addict, and your recaps totally make the show for me. I hope you keep watching, 'cause if you don't I won't know what to do with myself the day after the shows air!

As for me, I'm totaly rooting for Melinda and Blake. I told myself I wouldn't get invested again after my obsession with Elliot last year, but those two totally grabbed me. Ah, another few months of insane anxiety await me . . . damned American Idol . . .

imo melinda and lakisha are the story of the season. i look forward to watching the both of them battle each other as they are really the only real competition this season. right now melinda is the front runner with her on stage presence, but i think lakisha has a soul stirring hurt me oh damn billie holiday or nina simone in her. that's enough to keep me watching. and i also really like blake. he's just fun. so susan, keep watching, because the putrifying badness will be there, but the more compelling story between two amazing talents is being written. it's the first time i've seen it on AI, and it's worth my time.

The judges need to bring back The Panther!

don -- eccentric!

mommycat -- you're right -- we haven't seen a big "showdown" like that yet, and it is a good angle.

jeff -- that's so nice, thank you! I dig Blake, too. I think your anxiety level will be low this year, because both he and Melinda kick ass and will easily go far.

dave - like, yes. There is no deep love or soul patrol devotion afoot yet this year.

alice -- there is no way my brackets can do as poorly this year as last! (i hope!)
